Since 2012, the AppleVis Golden Apple Awards have provided a platform for users of Apple products to recognize developers’ outstanding efforts in accessibility. This year, our partnership with AppleVis reached an exciting milestone with the launch of the David Goodwin Award, which honors developers who have made an exceptional, long-term impact on the blind and low vision community.
The awards celebrate excellence in accessibility and innovation. Best App and Best Game awards highlight apps that are fully accessible, launched or significantly updated in 2024, and showcase best-in-class design and functionality. Developer of the Year recognizes active advocacy and significant app updates benefiting blind, DeafBlind, and low vision users. The David Goodwin Award honors developers with at least three years of consistent dedication to accessible development, excellence in design, and deep community engagement.
Nominations were gathered from community leaders and the AppleVis Editorial Team, considering activity such as app directory entries and community feedback. Voting took place from December 13 to December 23, 2024, open to all eligible AppleVis community members. To maintain impartiality, Be My Eyes and our app were not eligible for nomination.
Below are the winners for each award:
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! Your commitment to empowering blind, DeafBlind, and low vision users exemplifies excellence in accessibility. We’re honored to collaborate with AppleVis in celebrating these achievements and look forward to advancing accessibility together in 2025.
