San Francisco, March 19, 2025 – Be My Eyes, the company that connects people who are blind or have low vision with volunteers and companies, through live video and AI, is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Aeroporti di Roma (ADR), to provide its award-winning technology to over 40 million passengers travelling through Roma Fiumicino “Leonardo da Vinci” International Airport every year.
Roma Fiumicino “Leonardo da Vinci” International Airport is one of the only 12 world’s 5-star rated airports (SkyTrax) and the 2024 recipient of the ACI World Best Airport Award (for the 8th time in a row) for the quality of services offered to travelers. It is now taking another step forward in accessibility by partnering with Be My Eyes. This collaboration brings cutting-edge accessibility technology to the airport’s blind and low-vision passengers, ensuring them a more inclusive and seamless travel experience.
ADR has always been committed to innovation and accessibility as core pillars of its mission. To uphold its leadership in the industry and provide hyper-personalized travel experiences, the airport is integrating Be My Eyes’ Service Connect™ platform into its accessibility services.
Service Connect™ enables blind and low-vision travelers to access real-time assistance using a combination of advanced AI and dedicated service agents through the Be My Eyes app. Whether navigating the terminal, accessing flight information, or locating services, passengers can now receive immediate, tailored support at the touch of a button.
Mike Buckley, CEO of Be My Eyes, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Travel should be accessible to everyone, and our partnership with Aeroporti di Roma brings us closer to that goal. By integrating AI-powered tools and human support, we’re ensuring blind and low-vision travelers can navigate the airport with greater ease and confidence.”
Marina Maschio, Managing Director of ADR Assistance, the Aeroporti di Roma Group company that provides assistance to disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility, echoed this sentiment: “We take great pride in being a leader in accessibility and innovation. Partnering with Be My Eyes allows us to further enhance the experience for our passengers who are blind or have low-vision, ensuring they receive the same level of service and care that every traveler deserves at Fiumicino’ and Ciampino airport, both of which were the only airports in Italy to receive the ACI World's Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation”.
The integration of Be My Eyes at Fiumicino Airport marks a continued commitment to making global travel more inclusive. With this initiative, Be My Eyes and ADR set a new standard for accessibility in aviation, reinforcing its position as a trailblazer in passenger experience and innovation.
