As part of our ongoing effort to strengthen the connection for individuals with vision impairments with supporters, we would like to welcome Guide Dogs for the Blind on to the Be My Eyes platform! This means that Be My Eyes users in the United States and Canada can now connect with Guide Dogs for the Blind advisors directly from the Be My Eyes app.

Bringing on Specialized Help from Guide Dogs for the Blind is a big step in connecting our community of users with the assistance that’s most relevant to their lives. Whether someone needs help applying for a guide dog, or simply has questions about the best food to give their helper, they can do it all without leaving the Be My Eyes app. Guide Dogs for the Blind has been crucial to providing independence for thousands of people around the United States and Canada, but with everything going remote and virtual it has been difficult to get the same assistance that someone would have had just a few months ago. 

The independence Guide Dogs for the Blind provides has been an inspiration for Be My Eyes from the start.

“Guide Dogs for the Blind is known around the world for its innovative and supportive service. The independence that can be achieved from getting a dog can open up a whole new world,” says Will Butler, VP of Community at Be My Eyes. “We’re thrilled that Guide Dogs for the Blind is raising the bar for supporting clients with the Be My Eyes platform, and we’re hoping other guide dog organizations globally will take advantage of this purpose-built technology, as well.”

Guide Dogs for the Blind representatives are available for users in the USA and Canada Monday through Friday 9 AM to 4 PM Pacific Time.
