San Francisco, 22 January, 2025 - ‍Be My Eyes (bemyeyes.com), the company that improves accessibility for people who are blind or have low vision, announced today that it has raised $6.1 million through a Series A+ investment round and non-dilutive working capital from multiple enterprise partners. Be My Eyes will deploy this additional capital to accelerate the adoption of its AI-driven enterprise products, drive additional distribution of its free consumer products globally, further expand its unique and vibrant user community, and help propel an aggressive new market expansion.

The Series A+ investment round is led by Enable Ventures, and includes participation from ECMC Group’s Educational Impact Fund and the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), as well as participation from previous investors including LiteCap and Samaritan Partners. Regina “Gina” Kline, Founder and Managing Partner of Enable Ventures, will be joining Be My Eyes’  board of directors.  This A+ round was significantly over-subscribed and brings the company’s valuation to its highest level since its founding 10 years ago.

An innovator and market leader in its category, Be My Eyes launched its first App in January 2015 with a simple premise - to tap into the collective goodwill of sighted volunteers to answer descriptive requests from blind or low-vision users through one-way video. That premise still holds true today, but it has been enhanced with innovative and award-winning use of artificial intelligence (AI), providing detailed descriptions of what the user’s on-device camera can see.

Now a platform supporting multiple environments such as iOS, Android and desktop (for workplace accommodations), Be My Eyes technology is used by tens of thousands of community members every single day as well as some of the world’s best known brands embracing accessibility as part of their business strategy and for business impact.

The investment was driven in part, by significant momentum at Be My Eyes in 2024 including:

2024 Key Growth Indicators: +30% blind and low vision users, +16% sighted volunteers users, +360% revenues, +14% visitors, +200% monthly chat sessions, +76% MAU, 43M users reuqests per year, 97% CSAT

  • Revenue growth of 361%
  • Blind and low vision user growth of more than 30%, with a 76% increase in Monthly Active Users
  • Total user requests of more than 43 million per year, including threefold YoY growth in monthly AI sessions
  • A 97% user satisfaction rating on AI descriptions
  • Volunteer community growth of 1 million, now totalling  8.3 million people in 150 countries speaking 180 languages
  • Growth in AppleVis visitors of 14% in the 3 months after the acquisition by Be My Eyes in August 2024
  • As well as new or expanded enterprise relationships with some of the world’s leading brands including Microsoft, Hilton, Google, Sony, Spotify, Unilever, Barilla and many others.

In 2024, Be My Eyes also launched formal partnerships with several organizations including Microsoft, OpenAI and Meta. Be My Eyes is the first and only official Accessibility-tech (a11y-tech) partner available on the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, following extensive co-development work between the two companies.

“We have just celebrated our tenth anniversary since launching, and I cannot think of a better way to kick off our next 10 years. This investment is a testament to the hard work of Be My Eyes employees, a reflection of our strong financial performance, and growing confidence in our ability to deliver ROI to enterprises deploying our accessible customer service and workplace software” said Mike Buckley, CEO of Be My Eyes. “But providing the best AI and human assistance tools to the community for free requires us to continue to grow a robust enterprise revenue stream. With governments and businesses increasingly driven to provide accessibility as part of their own operations, the burgeoning commercial opportunity for a11y-tech is clear. The time is now and we are uniquely placed to serve it.”

“Finding investment partners that share our impact values, and are similarly purpose-driven, is as important as the money itself.” continued Mike Buckley. “That’s why we are so pleased to have investors such as Enable Ventures and the expertise of someone like Gina Kline joining our board”.

"It is with great pride that we have led the Series A+ investment round into Be My Eyes, a company that has built its success from its trusted relationship with blind and low vision customers around the world,” said Regina “Gina” Kline, Founder and Managing Partner of Enable Ventures. “They are a powerful leader in responsible tech and exemplify everything that is good in their deft use of AI to uplift human potential and drive accessible equity whether at work, school or in the community. We look forward to working with them as they embark on their next phase of significant market growth”
